man filling up boat from fuel point MarineFuelPoint.com launches UK's first marine fuel directory

BUIC tenant MarineFuelPoint.com has launched an innovative new website to help boat owners find the best value marine fuel points.

They aim to be the first ever nationwide directory of marine fuel points and suppliers, allowing boat owners to find waterside fuel supplies within just a few clicks. In a climate of spiralling prices and concerns that cheaper UK red diesel could cease to be available to commercial and leisure boaters in some areas from November 2008, the website provides a valuable new resource to the boating community.

The brainchild of Master Mariner Graeme Bissett of Weymouth, MarineFuelPoint.com went live on 25th June. Other features of the site include a ‘Base Directory’, listing a wide range of other marine-related products and services for boating, diving and fishing enthusiasts. There are also plans to add a mariners’ forum in the coming months.

Graeme says: “From experience of buying marine fuels for large commercial ships I know you can really save money by shopping around, but up until now there has been no easy way for the boating community to do it. I hope this new site will be useful for owners and skippers of all sizes of craft and help people to carry on enjoying their time on the water without worrying about the costs.”

As well as mapping red diesel and petrol fuel points, the website is capable of listing suppliers of LPG and Biodiesel, which – although in their infancy at the moment – could prove to be the fuels of the future.
