The 2005 IoD Innovation Award, sponsored by the University, was presented to DB Solutions Ltd , a bespoke software development firm. Based in the University's Innovation Centre, DB Solutions was formed by Bournemouth graduates in 2001. The company won the Award for developing an innovative electronic chemotherapy prescribing system, HOPS (Haematology Oncology Prescribing System), which provides an effective solution to scheduling and prescribing chemotherapy treatment. Deputy Chairman of IoD Wessex , Philip Warr, says; "The ability to be innovative, whether through technological development or creatively responding to customer needs, is an increasingly important factor in driving economic growth across Dorset . DB Solutions Ltd has developed this revolutionary software enabling doctors to prescribe chemotherapy more quickly whilst also recording information for research that will contribute to improved efficacy in the future. Each finalist in this category demonstrated excellent examples of innovation, however, we were delighted to select DB Solutions as outright winners."
